Be Aware Of Bogus Alternative Cancer Treatment
The research that is now done on alternative cancer treatment is becoming more extensive by the day. I have listened to many experts on this topic and have learnt from these experts some amazing facts. One therapist writes about her experience of alternative cancer treatments here.
If you are looking at alternative medicine then you have probably reached the stage where you feel it is the your only hope, and orthodox methods are no longer able to help you. This following example relates to one of my patients who we will call Jane, (for the sake of privacy). Jane has lung cancer. She has tried every orthodox treatment available and been subjected to all types of known drugs to cure her of the disease. But, so far all these treatments have been unsuccessful, and doctors have now given her only a year to live. Like many people in her situation, Jane has decided to carry on fighting has been looking into some alternative cancer treatments. I have advised her of course that she should never give up, but to research possible treatments thoroughly before making any decisions.
It is important to remember here that although there are a huge amount of alternative cancer treatments out there, many of them are simply outrageous and there are probably just two or three in reality that are actually likely to help. So please be aware of bogus claims of cancer cures. There is organization called the alternative cancer treatment institute, (or something similar) which exploits sufferers when they are at their most vulnerable. Some of the treatments on offer can involve anything including herbs, diets, fasts, (or detoxing), to what is known as the healing touch. In fact there is even an alternative cancer treatment that involves interpreting your dreams. Quite how this is supposed to cure your cancer I am not sure, but I believe they think that by understanding your dreams the cancer will simply disappear.
Whilst there is definitely something in placebo treatment, and remaining positive does help you to overcome illness, we are talking about a life threatening disease here and it needs to be treated accordingly. Not just used to exploit people who feel there is nothing else left. Of course this is only my opinion and there are professionals who truly believe in some types of alternative cancer treatment. One doctor I know claims that one form of herbal cancer treatment offers a good chance of recovery. I would love for this to be the case and be proved wrong, but until there is proof, I consider it no more than wishful thinking. I do understand that, as a doctor he wants to keep an open mind and explore every avenue in order to give his patients the best possible chance of survival. But, I do sometimes feel that his desire to believe may compromise his abilities to as a scientist. This is not uncommon. Scientists may be professional and highly educated people, but they feel compassionate about their work and sometimes the desire to find cures can cloud judgement.
