Back Pain Is Just One Symptom Of Colon Cancer

Before you read this article please remember that if you are experiencing one or more of the symptoms described you should not panic. Although you should consult your doctor, you need to remember that there are an infinite number of reasons that could cause problems such as the ones here.

When my father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, (colon cancer) he had been experiencing some symptoms for a while. The fact that he was going to the toilet far more frequently was what actually prompted him to visit the doctor. But, one of his other symptoms was back pain.

Back pain is just one of the symptoms of colon cancer but it is a common one. Another symptom, (as with my dads case) is a change in bowel movements. You may find you are visiting the bathroom more or less frequently than usual. If a tumour is growing it can prevent waste from passing. This leads on to another symptom. Constipation and a bloated feeling are also common in colon cancer. Other symptoms can include Stools being thin, watery, or have bright red blood in them. Weight loss can occur inexplicably. You may feel tired or lethargic. Some people experience nausea and even vomiting. An excessive amount or wind (gas) is another possible side effect as is anaemia.

But let's look more at colon cancer back pain. When talking to people who are experiencing or have experienced colon cancer, Some have no pain at all, whilst others complain of back pain in different ways. For some people with colon cancer, back pain occurs whilst the patient is on the toilet. For others, the back pain can happen at random times and many have reported it to be in the lower left side of their back. Either of these problems can be an indication of colon cancer and often, patient may experience pain whether they are on or off the toilet.

As you can see there are quite a large list of symptoms here for colon cancer. Back pain is not the only sign and just because you are having back problems you should not fear the worst but you should see your doctor and make sure he or she screens you, if nothing else to put your mind at rest.
